EdisonNERCTraining is led by Mr. Hassan Sleiman, a NERC-certified electrical engineer with direct experience in utility control room operations and operator training.
NERC CERTIFIED
Mr. Hassan Sleiman is the founder of EdisonNERCTraining, a power system professional whose training is grounded in engineering and proven in the control room. He holds an electrical engineering degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn and is NERC certified, having earned his credential the same way every EdisonNERCTraining student will.
His career sits at the intersection of real-time operations and reliability compliance in the utility industry, based in the Detroit metropolitan area — home to one of the country's major grid control centers. Beyond operations, he has spent a significant part of his career building and leading training itself: continuous training and continuous improvement programs for system operators, human performance improvement initiatives, and extensive in-classroom instruction. He has led system operator continuous training programs and NERC continuing education credit programs from the ground up — the same kind of programs EdisonNERCTraining now offers.
EdisonNERCTraining is the product of that combination: an engineering foundation, hands-on control room experience, and years spent designing and leading the training and human performance programs that keep certified operators sharp long after they pass their exam.
Degree from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, with a focus on the fundamentals that underpin every NERC exam: circuits, power systems, and controls.
Holds a NERC System Operator certification, earned the same way every EdisonNERCTraining student will — by passing one of the four NERC credential exams.
Years of hands-on utility power system operations and NERC compliance work in the Detroit metropolitan area, one of the country's major grid operations hubs.
Led system operator continuous training programs and NERC continuing education credit programs, with extensive in-classroom instruction and a focus on continuous improvement and human performance.
Every topic starts with how the power system actually behaves: frequency response, voltage and reactive power, stability and protection. Once you understand the why, the standards and exam questions make sense.
Lessons are framed around real operating situations: a unit trip, an IROL exceedance, a loss of communications. You practice the decisions an operator makes in the first minutes of an event.
Your instructor has led continuous training and human performance programs for system operators. These classes reinforce the communication and error-prevention habits that keep operators reliable long after the exam.
Most exam prep treats the NERC certification as a test to pass. Mr. Hassan Sleiman built EdisonNERCTraining around the opposite idea: that understanding how the grid actually behaves under stress is what makes a good operator, and that the certification should follow from that understanding — not stand in for it.
That's why the curriculum runs through EPRI's Power System Dynamics Tutorial, the same reference NERC lists for its own exams, not just a bank of practice questions.
Understanding how the grid behaves under stress is what makes a good operator. The certification should follow from that.THE EDISONNERCTRAINING APPROACH
